Hi all,I am relatively new to blogging and as my site has gained more and more visitors, I am getting bombarded with comments that don't make any sense at all. I can only guess that these are people who do not speak English? Here is an example:This comment came in from someone called: Men's Supplements:"I need to show my as a result of this particular copy writer only for saving me via this kind of environment. As a consequence of surfing through the the net and also acquiring guidelines which are not nice, I thought my life was above. Living minus the strategies to the problems you’ve got solved by means of your complete website is a critical scenario, and also versions that may possess badly broken my own total job easily we had not discovered the web site. Most of your competence along with kindness when controling a lot of stuff ended up being very useful. I’m not sure some tips i could have done if I hadn’t occur on such a stuff like this. I’m also able to now look ahead to my personal future. Many thanks a great deal to your specific and amazing aid. My partner and i won’t hesitate in order to recommend your website in order to anybody who needs recommendations about this subject theme."I got about 40 of these just today, all from the same website and all with different email addresses! It's like there's a pack of wild nonsense animals closing in on my site. Can anyone share what this type of thing is and what, if anything I should do about it?Thank you in advance,Chris
I suggest you install a comment plugin, such as Akismet. It's very useful. I also caught in the same trouble with you. My Akismet helped me blocked almost 4000 spams. It is very interesting that most spamers' English is good than me. Some times I am afraid to post a English blog because I am not sure the spamer could understand what I said. I am a Chinese by the way.
Hi youngfree,Thank you very much for your response. I will try Akismet. I certainly hope I didn't hurt your feelings with my post when I said that comment about English. By the way, your English is very good and makes perfect sense to me. The comments I am getting on my site do not make any sense at all and they are not even relevent to the post that they are commenting on, so that is how I know it must be spam. Honestly, I would rather get real (non-spam) comments in another language and use an app or plug-in to translate them myself. Thank you for the good advice and for taking the time to respond! Best wishes to you! RYH_Chris
It's my pleasure to share good stuff. Thanks for your encouragement. I said my English is poor because I am an English major, apparently not good one.I am just an English major who just not major in English.Good Day.
Thank you all for the responses. I added Akismet awhile back and haven't had any issues with spam-like comments since then. Unfortunately it also discouraged people from submitting real comments, but I guess that's the price you pay for the extra security.
Spam comments like these will probably always be a part of blogging. Sometimes they even pass through the spam filters, so there's no way to stop them entirely. If your'e on Wordpress use Akismet to block them (for the most part).
You should install 2 free wordpress plugins. 1. Akismet. -Protects against known spammers. 2. Math comment spam protection. -Users needs to answer a simple math question befor ecommenting, like 4+9=13. This literally eliminares 95% of all bot spam to your website. Due to the bad grammar of your comments that you are recieving I'd guess that they are using a bot that posts a set amount of comments that are being spun by a crap spinning software. It doesn't have to mean that they are bad at the English language, it's just that the softwares spins the original comment in to hundreds of unique low quality ones, making it unreadable. Hope it helps!
The thing is, many people look to Wordpress websites because they know they can get links in the name box on the comment. That's why you had so many. If you want genuine comments then DisQus plugin is good, because people need profiles to comment and then try submitting articles to social bookmarking websites, but make sure your content is engaging. Top 10s, Best ofs, Comparison articles and guides all work well.
It's good to use some plugins, I agree, you can't get rid of spam in general, just use the premoderation option to delete the trash
Those sorts of comments are only used to try and get backlinks to other peoples sites. It's a compelte waste of time now with the new Google update. Just use Akismet and let it handle them all.
You definitely need Akismet. It is a plugin that helps filter spam comments. I have some clients who thought that their blog was receiving a lot of attention and they started showing them off to me because they claimed to have hundreds of comments. I knew instantly it was spam but they didn't know the difference.
I use Askimet and it works fine. There are many others to choose from that all seem to do the same thing.
i also have internet marketing blog and i have noticed that people are even dropping the commenting asking why you are not updating more comment. so they can spam on it. I think the buyer who purchase the blog commenting service they should know that the blog commenting is completely wast of time. it is not helpful.
Using Askimet is necessary . Besides , spammy comment is always be a part mate just we need to go along with that and keep our patience.
If you're using wordpress, invest in askimet. It should block most of those. They are generated from bots. People do it to try and build backlinks. If you don't get askimet or something similar, you'll have thousands every week or month. It sucks because then you can't sort through them to engage the REAL customers.
