Ive never seen anything like YPN, it could be pretty awesome. All the clicks I get result in way higher earnings then I got with AdSense clicks. The only problem is CTR is a heck of a lot lower with YPN then it was with Adsense, luckily the high click-earnings is making YPN great for me.

But I just cannot understand where there ads are ?
On about 15 sites, each with different subjects, only 2 sites have all the ads relevant, most sites have none and show ads for long distance phone calls 'vonage' and 'mortgage loans'

If they had the ads YPN would be awesome, as is....... it's good

oh yea... they don't have medical term ads either LOL not even meso....

Oh they have the ads for Meso - I'm not quiet sure how you would get them on your site , possibly by adding the "Medical" category as suggested above

Don't you just let them choose each sites ads ? like adsense, that is what I have been doing. Or do you choose the categories for each site or page ?

    Which way is best ?

I can confirm this: the ads are certainly there; one of my sites gets all the medical/health related ads it needs to fill 3 ad units.

If you don't use the "ad targeting" feature (either site wide or specific URL) you are going to get a lot ads that are not relevant. While you can "suggest" an ad category, it is only a suggestion. If they have the ads and can correctly figure out what your site is about (they aren't near as good as adsense) the targeting can work pretty good - at least a lot better than not using it. You can't suggest "Health related ads" and expect them to show on a site that isn't relevant to health.

Again, it isn't always going to work, especially with words with different meanings i.e. a site about "gold wedding bands" might be seen as "musical bands for a wedding" even though you have selected "jewelry" for the site.

I have one site titled: Baldness - Male Pattern Baldness - Female Baldness

The content is all about baldness, it gets ads on: Vonage (long distance phone calls) and $160,000 Mortgage.

Another site on: Bee Stings - Bee Sting - Bees - Wasps
Gets ads on Lending Tree - Vonage - $160,000 Mortgage - MyCashNow

This site: Earache - Swimmers Ear - Ear Infection
Gets ads on: $160,000 Mortgage - MyCashNow - Vonage

etc - Only one medical site out of 15 get all good ads, a site on Acne

Apparently Vonage is a popular VPN ad. My CigarSmokers forum gets Vonage ads all the time.

Wow I tried using the YPN Targeting tool, it made over 90% of my ads turn relevant. It is strange that they don't turn on their own ? I removed one site because there just was no category of ads that came close to that sites content, switching that site back to AdSense gave it all relevant ads.

So, after 3 days now with YPN I have learned the 'targeting tool' is very powerful and useful, loving YPN more all the time :)

YPN is going to blow adsense out of the water soon. I have no doubt.

Vonage is major client of YPN, so YPN puts its ads whenever it runs short of inventory (or relevance). Its like google public service ads, but here you get at least some money (if at all anyone bother to click on it :D )

I got some red for saying this in another thread, but personally, I wish Yahoo gave us the option of disabling their RON (PSA equivelent) ads - i.e. for me, the Vontage long distance and Mortgage ads look spammy and are crap IMHO - I'd prefer not to have 'em show on my site.

Pls note I said give me the OPTION - I know some people don't mind 'em ... but Yahoo's ad relevence still needs some work IMHO.

If it is specifically the mortgage and vonage ads that you don't like can't you block ads from those URLs? It is not like adsense though where you can turn off PSAs. You are right about that.

Yea, but who wants to spend time tracking down Avontage, Bvontage, Cvontage, etc. (i.e. other RON advertisers). Google not only gives you the option to turn PSA's off, but substitute your own, which is exactly what I do - I put up an image pitching Google Compute to support Folding@HOME research into diseases.

Non relevant ads are paying a lot more, their targeting got better and income is dropping.
