    Hi,

I am basically looking for some advice, i am helping a number of non-profits try to gain a presence online.

Basically most of current cost was bourne by the founders personally. So they really do not have much in terms of a budget for promotion.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas, hints, tips to generate traffic and interest in the site via search engines, without it costing them a fortune.

The basis of the site can be seen at mosque-online (.dot) com

Thank you in advance for any help and advice you can offer, it is greatly appreciated.

    Ahmed

You can post comments on related blogs. (For example, you could post comments on my Hunger & Poverty Blog.) Almost all blogs allow you to enter your website URL and it leaves a link to your site.

You could post on related forums with a link in the signature. (For example, you could post on my Hunger & Poverty Forums.)

Other than that, you can do the common things: directory submissions, article writing, etc.

    Thanks,
    Scott

You may also want to look into a press release of some kind. Send it to an online newspaper that either is related to or has at least a section related to your site.

Ask for people who support the non-profit to post links to your site.

Also have a mailing list signup on the sites.

PR is always a big part of non-profits. There are a number of sites that you can distribute press releases to for free.
