We changed; God remained the same.

God's love and forgiveness (Old Testament):

Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. (Isaiah 55:7)

You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. (Psalm 86:5)

God's love and forgiveness (New Testament):

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:10-11)

    =========================================

God's anger with sin (Old Testament):

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)

Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn from their wicked ways; then I will forgive their wickedness and their sin.” (Jeremiah 36:3)

God's anger with sin (New Testament):

So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. (Romans 2:3-5)

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. (Romans 2:7-8)

We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. (1 Corinthians 10:8)

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. (Hebrews 13:4)

I remember, as a student, an American Catholic priest who dared us to commit ourselves to the service of his church (he didn't say God) and challenged us saying we can't be good Christians unless we defend to the death, his church. That probably explains the frenzy of the forum posts. Trouble is, more guilt feelings are induced. It's always like this with dogma and orthodoxy.

The bible itself is actually not clear on whether Jesus was crucified or not.

It does mention he was crucified, but if you read it carefully you'll find Jesus died in a matter of a few hours, the problem is that crucifixion does not kill you in a few hours, you die in about 3-4 days.

In the book of Isiah which was written 1,000 years before Jesus was born it says that the messiah would be hung from a tree and in the end be forsaken by God.Jesus was attempting to prove that he was the messiah with his dying breath.

"my God, why have you forsaken me?" is Psalm 22 verse 1 (Psalm 22 was written by King David 1000 years before Christ came to earth)
Jesus quoted this verse to draw attention to Psalm 22 which describes His suffering on the cross; and to prove that he is the Messiah..

    quotes from Psalm 22:

    Psalm 22:7-8
7 All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. 8 “He trusts in the LORD,” they say, “let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.”

    fulfillment: Matthew 27:39-43
39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

    -------

    Psalm 22:16
16 Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.

    Psalm 22:18
18 They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.

    fulfillment: Mark 15:24
24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

    -------

100s of years before Christ, Isaiah wrote:

4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

Isaiah is in no way talking about Jesus.

Psalms was not written by Jesus nor does it talk about Jesus, in fact the entire old testament doesn't mention Jesus at all, the Jews would have accepted him as messiah if that was the case. All the so called prophecies about Jesus in the old testament are just mistranslated, mis-interpreted or out of context bits of text.

Massive fail, then. According to Christianity God can do anything - so he could just forgive us our sins. A sacrificial lamb is only required by human beings, not by an all-powerful god. All the story proves is that the NT was created by men, not by an all-powerful god.

Too bad that you follow a religion dreamed up by such primitive minds that they couldn't see that their story disproved their story.

Right because you know what perfection should be like , you uberanus you (that was Nietzsche dream right ?), if the world dosen't suit your view of perfection then there is no God . Wasn't logic suppose to be the basis of atheism ?

Here a little something from stupid jew - "I want to know God's thoughts – the rest are mere details."

The Psalms of David were written by king David 1000 years before Jesus came to earth.

because Jesus hadn't been born yet when the Old Testament was written.

    Source: http://www.whoisjesus-really.com/english/preview.htm
"For instance, the Old Testament indicated Jesus would be betrayed by someone he trusted: "Even my close friend whom I trusted, he who has shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me" (Psalm 41:9). The New Testament, which records Jesus' life and resurrection, reveals that one of the 12 people Jesus chose to be part of his inner circle betrayed him: "Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them" (Mark 14:10).
More than 300 Messianic prophecies like this were made in the Old Testament and then fulfilled through Jesus' life, death and resurrection. The chances of one person fulfilling a mere 8 of these prophecies are 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. For one person to fulfill 48 of these prophecies, the number becomes staggering--1 chance in 10 to the 157th power (1 with 157 zeros after it). Add to that the 250 other prophecies, and it becomes impossible for any other person except Jesus to ever fit that particular sequence of time and events."

God is a just judge; a just judge cannot let sinners go unpunished, that would be unjust.

Therefore it couldn't have been written about him. (How do you write about someone who won't be born for 1,000 years?)
That would mean that not being punished because someone else died is nonsense. You just defeated the entire basis of Christianity in one sentence.
