This month's contest will be a little different. There are some very devoted phpLD members, and this is one way that I hope will recognize the enormous efforts some people have made to help the phpLD community as a whole. Therefore, we will be nominating the site that is best phpLD resource for templates, mods, and information that helps phpLD directory owners. (We are NOT nominating directories this month, but will return to this next month) If you you are looking for sites to nominate, here is a good place to start: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-50,GGLG:en&q=phpld&btnG=Search Who would you like to nominate? Nominate your favorite site HERE
Well, i guess its time for Phpld Owners to win (www.phpldowners.com) ..ill be selling it soon so it would be nice to win I will vote for it. Thanks, fuser PS: I will put this thread on Phpld Owners so my visitors registered at dp or phpld forums can vote
i put my newest site there www.idk.in/blogs as i think it will be the good source because i am posting daily and trying to get it to be the best.
Good concept david. As usual I have done the necessary blogging. The link seems down for now, hopefully the issue should be fixed soon I hope. Good luck to all the people who are and will nominate themselves. Looking a ahead for the new winner.
What you should do - is have a PHPLD Mod Competition - then when your done, sell all the Mods as a Bundle and split it up accordingly (First place gets 50% of the earnings, second gets 25% of the earnings of the bundle, third can get 10, and the rest gets split up between the other mod makers)
Ok Mods Competition is healthy n good no doubt. But why should phpld sells mods? I am sure the mods owner may want to sell it themselves! Let's not get into the sales path. But yes, Mods Competition is a good suggestion.
Agreed 101%. All mod makers wouldn't wanna give up their hard work. Also why phpld should include these paid mods? I am sure they themselves can comeup with something different! Combine the new and the paid mods = Better phpld.
Well the object of a piece of software is to get better over time and to provide the end-user with more functionality. Maybe David could purchase the rights to the best mods to include? I just started a new phpld site too but I guess it is too young to be included
Ive already given David 4 new suggestions to implement in future releases. To say to give mods away is insulting to me, personally, to say the least, and that's not counting the other people who write MODs and work hard for what they learn and provide. That was a very inconsiderate and extremely poor choice in words and suggestion that was given.
Agreed ok. Would this apply to wordpress also? Wordpress has thousands of plugins, why doesn't anyone ask wordpress to include them all in its release? Everyones got different taste and liking. Some may for example want paid mods, some may manage without it! Why increase the software load and further increase the bugs and ruin a simple software? Getting the software better, is the companies idea, they can come out with their original ideas and provide the end-user with more functionality. Not necessary that a 3rd party must stop his hard work and hand over the rights of his mod/plugin.
an0n I hope you are not refering to me? I don't think any mod should be given away or stolen to be included but some of the mods created have to do with basic functions that should be included in the software. I think it should be possible for David to come to an agreement with mod coders to include their mods in future versions. As I stated in the phpld forums, even if there has to be a premuim edition of phpld to help fund this. As far as Wordpress is concerned I believe they do include features from mods in the newest versions. One that comes to mind was a mod to show a static page as your home page and now that feature is included in the newest version. Also Wordpress is free and so are most of the mods I have come across. Personally I don't think there are enough folks coding mods for phpld right now (I could not even get a quote from An0n on creating a mod) so I don't want to see any of the current ones taken advantage of, but at the same time for phpld to remain a leader in the industry it has to keep up with the desires of it's end users. No one wants to buy a script and then install 20 different mods to make it functional.
truly agreed i would not want my templates to be given away for free either if i design it for myself and i am making money off it.
Speaking of templates, one click template uploads like some of the CMS's do would be a great feature!!
