What is everyone's opinion on sites using the nofollow attribute? Do you feel they deserve less time when promoting your website?

what do you mean by "promoting your website"?

if all you are looking for are links for google to consider, then yes they are a waste of time

if you are looking at attracting visitors directly from a link that really want to see some quality content you are offering, then they are not a waste of time

he is asking if you should spend more time on dofollow link building and less time on nofollow link building

I think the answer is obvious, but nofollow might be a great choice if direct related traffic is what you are after

It depends on the level of traffic. Obviously a nofollow link on a site that's not even visited is going to be useless unless that site has PR.

Yes that's what I'm asking. How much time does everyone generally spend on each assuming they're aware of which sites are which? I think it would be foolish to completely ignore nofollow sites but maybe some people do?

dofollow = thank you very much
nofollow + 1000 + subscriber site = thank you very much

Use tools like trends and compete to tell you about a sites traffic or just check out their subscribership and if there is traffic.. then post the link... the link DOES count as far as google is concerned.. you just aren't going to get the PR.. but then.. who cares about that?

If you get 1000 backlinks with no follow tag, it means you got zero backlink. No follow tag means you get no backlinks, so why will you spend time on getting links that are not backlinks? No follow links have no positive affect on your site.

Well for example I have a link I just added to a very popular site that ranks very high in the SERP for a few keywords for my site and it's been bringing me some slow steady traffic. I do think that's a positive thing as I'm starting out and any traffic I can get is appreciated.
