NoFollow?

I have a question, I know they say NoFollow means the search engines do not follow the links that have that tag. But does it pass no power at all to your site if a link is NoFollow? Even if its a pr8 page or blog post? I mean any power at all? Does it not help with pr or anything?

 

Some search engines do not honor the NoFollow rule, but Google does (I believe it was their idea anyway). No link juice will be passed for Google. Yahoo will see it though and it may factor somehow. These days it is very worth it to use Firefox and the various SEO plugins that will immediately show if links are 'nofollow' (SEO Quake is a good plugin).

Also, you could do a search for dofollow, as many people, mainly bloggers want to have Google find one another. Nofollow actually is not a good idea in this case. There are sites listing blogs and other sites that are part of the 'dofollow movement'.

Wow. Thank for this info too. I did not know that about google. Now I have to make some changes to my sites.

 

If you use Google webmaster tools Google will display your backlinks with nofollow in them. Therefore Google is aware of these links. I guess we can only make educated guesses until someone does the experiment.

 

well I did make some good comments on a nofollow pr8 blog post I will see if my site jumps to a higher pr like a 6 or 7 and that would be a good test!

 

No i doubt it would work. I did the same experiment a few years back. I think nofollow might have some impact on your SERP but no impact on PR.

 

Hmm, well I am going to try anyhow, I also wonder if perhaps the pr will update since the other search engines ignore that tag? Possibly.

rel =nofollow does not have any seo value in the search engine.

 

when google see a link with nofollow, it will ignore that link. because of this , links will with nofollow will effect nothink

 

Only for Google and any other search engine that honors nofollow. Yahoo and Live do not care at this point.

 

I tested nofollow and it don't work for google yahoo show it in BL like linkvendor but it have no influence in SEO.

 

SEO for whom? Yahoo? They all have their own algorithms and list sites differently. So far there is no indication that Yahoo or Live care about nofollow. Nofollow doesn't matter to Yahoo or Live, so shouldn't influence SEO.

Since most people focus their SEO toward Google nofollow is very important.
