NoFollow, Templates, and PR Juice

    Hello everyone,

Many people advise against creating a website by using a template. However, I really love templates because they enable me to produce pages quickly so I get more content on my site. In addition, they allow me to create a theme for the website that in my opinion are really nice.

Before I get into the details, I want to bring up the nofollow attribute in links. I read this was created to reduce spam. This tag supposely causes google not to pass PR juice to the link destination. I read this happened a few years ago and I really think it is a great thing.

So, assuming this information is correct, I should be able to pass the PR juice on my own website to certain pages correct?

Here is the particular template that I created:

    http://www.codebuyers.com

Please note, this is no where near being completed.

However, notice how I have certain pages linked to the home page that would not be all that great to pass PR juice to - registration, password retrieval, privacy statement, site map, and terms and conditions.

So if I place the nofollow tag on these links, the PR juice should be passed to important pages such as find a coder, find a buyer, find a package, and find a buyer.

Is my assumption correct? Is this how you would optimize this for google?

    Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

    Who?

    Your are correct.

Do you have nofollow on every single link on your site? If so, I'd remove it and only put it on links where you feel it's necessary.

It couldn't hurt anything. I don't think it's going to make a robo huge difference, but it probably is worth doing.

    Hey there,

    Thanks for the prompt response.

I was referring to SEO consultants that say it is best templates are not used because you are suppose to keep page similarity to a minimum. It contradicts with other specialists that advise having a theme on the website.

My thinking though is having nofollow links could direct some of the subpages to rank higher in the SERPs.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely,
