Could somebody enlighten me? The nofollow tag means the links don't count, not that they have negative weight, right? That'd make sense, but I have heard lots of horrible stories about penalization for using the "nocache" tag.
You're right. The nofollow tag simply tells SE Spiders to not follow those links and disregard them as if they were standard text. There's no penalization for linking on a page that has the nofollow tag.
Not true - I know for a fact that google will follow and cache a page with the nofollow tag. I dont know what really happens with regards to counting as a link
Google: "From now on, when Google sees the attribute (rel="nofollow") on hyperlinks, those links won't get any credit when we rank websites in our search results."
Right - im still waiting to prove that. I have a test running. I know google will cache a page with the nofollow ---- next BL update ill find out if they list it as a backlink
Same boat here. For some reason G still caches the page. Now whether there is any effect or not I dunno. Not sure how to test it.
I'm testing something I need a list of a few pages / sites with pages that use nofollow. Please post here or PM me the url. Ta.
