    hi mates,

i have one question to ask..

i read somewhere that putting nofollow attribute for every page on your site increases PR on index .. PR is only allowed to index ..

so i'd like to know if my other pages are gonna be indexed ? does nofollow denies spider from indexing other pages?

    thanks

non follow means crawler don't follow hyperlink. means don't crawel other pages that linked from that page

Your other pages can be got index, if there are links from somewhere else to your pages.

Your other pages wont get indexed unless you've linked to them externally.

Well........if you add no-follow attribute on your pages then a spider will nat crawl them and these links were not consider as backlink for a site so no-follow links never help to increase PR of a site. Often webmasters use it on forums or blogs.

I am sorry but I have to differ from everyone else. The nofollow attribute has not been proven to work in such a way as everyone think it should work. Many times links have still been crawled and indexed even though the nofollow tag is present.

In my experience the nofollow tag tells the search engine that the link or links on the page are not the site owner links so do not devalue the site owner page due to the external links. Also, it tells the search engines not to pass any value to the links. This is how I have seen the nofollow tag being employed.

With that said, I am not sure if links are getting indexed and crawled on nofollow tag pages because one search engine doesn't honor the nofollow attribute .... example let's say Yahoo! doesn't honor the nofollow tag, then Yahoo! will follow, crawl, and index the links on the pages -- if this is the case then Google will surely find, crawl, and index the links as well from Yahoo! index.

In any event, the nofollow attribute in my opinion does not seem to work as it suppose to or if it does then it has major flaws and is highly exploitable. But by using the nofollow tag you will definitely not pass any page value to the links and will not devalue your own pages, so it is useful for these reasons.

nofollow is a non-standard HTML attribute value used to instruct search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place.

Besides, if you're going to no-follow or no-index a page entirely, just block it using a robots.txt file. If you just want to block a couple links from being followed, then use the rel="nofollow" attribute in the anchor element (link).
