Ok as far as I under stand it, NoFollow links do not help at all with google. So is it safe to assume that they are 100% worthless for google? I am also assuming that the NoFollow attribute only applies to google at the moment. How much do the rest of you webmasters value nofollow links for the other search engines etc? For example would you give up a dofollow link for 3 nofollow? or something like that. Just trying to get a feel if trading nofollows is a viable thing or if everyone only wants dofollows. Thanks for any feedback.
I would suggest go for dofollow. NoFollow is have its value in Yahoo. Yahoo lists all nofollow or dofollow in the search results. It is up to you for which SE you want to optimize. Of course, google will be the best choice.
NoFollow links will help you to get indexed faster and will drive traffic to your site. It's good to have some NoFollow links as well, to make your link profile more natural.
Nofollow links do not pass any PR value, so if you are after backlinks to improve your SERP in google, I'd go for dofollow ones (I'm really not sure about yahoo though). At the same time, nofollow links from popular resources in your market can drive good amount of traffic of very nice quality to your site.
Yeah, only in such cases, I see potential in NoFollow backlinks. Any source that will drive traffic for free is not worthless. If a noFollow link also works in the same way, then I will not bother to have that noFollow link. But As far as PR is concerned, NoFollow will not at all help.
Google may choose to publicly state something then turn around and use it how they see fit. Don't discredit the value of ANY incoming link form a Good Source. Links in and of themselves can generate traffic. While Google may command the lions share of search that doesn't mean every person who visits your site will only find you in Google. Use linking methods that bring you traffic and don't focus too much on one method. I nofollow link on a popular site will still send ou taffic even if it doesn't get the ranking boost from Google.
What is the difference of dofollow links vs nofollow links? I can't seem to find an explanation on the forums.
If the "nofollow" links are from relevant sites, they can bring traffic. Plus, if the site has not been indexed yet, this can help get a site crawled faster by the search engines. It doesn't mean that they do not follow the links at all, just that these links will not influence ranking or pass PR.
if you find dofollow link all the time maybe google will suspect your site build for SE. It's not bad at all get nofollow link sometime. Make it more nature link for your site.
