Nofollow/ Dofollow - Need Some Explanations!

    Hi there,

I need to build more links and I recently realized that I was still confused with the nofollow/ dofollow system.

I believe that dofollow blogs and websites give you a link back when you comment on them... right?

Should I make my blog dofollow? I believe it's nofollow by default.

    Any advice on that?

If you want others to comment on your blog for a backlink, you can make your blog dofollow. But it brings a lottt of spam.

Yes, dofollow blogs give link back for any comment.

And, dofollow blogs is risky in front of google. There are many dofollow blog punish by google because it is considered as link farm.

    Thanks for your replies.

I don't necessarily want more comments, I'm mostly looking to build some links.

So I guess I should focus on commenting on do-follow blogs, rather than making my own blog do-follow -- am I right?

All links are "backlinks". The issue is does Google or any other source you expect and hope to crawl and rank your site reward a link that is marked "nofollow".

The answer is maybe. Even Google has publicly stated they will do whatever they want with the parameter. Meaning they might devalue nofollow links or they might not.

So focus on building links that bring you traffic and don't worry about nofollow dofollow.

A link with dofollow will be followed by search engines and it will be given credit in the search rankings . SO commenting in related dofollow blogs improves backlinks and and ranks .

Make your blog dofollow and add a captcha to your comments section except for users logged in.

You can build nofollow AND dofollow links but Google doesn't give as much weight to nofollow links, it basically halves the value of the link.

Just build links as always, don't worry about nofollow/dofollow. Almost everything is becoming nofollow now, anyway. Here's an explanation of dofollow, though. You'll see that all of the big 'dofollow' sites have pretty much converted over in the past year.

do follow does matter its about pr with do follow no follow is basically about traffic. Make sure they are theme related unless they are pr7 or above then it dont matter too much
