Just came across this, when I was checking my backlinks. There are some directories that uses nofollow, so in my opinion they are useless to submit to. Here is one if you know others please post: http://www.directory-free.com You can check your backlinks in http://www.backlinkwatch.com and see if any other directories uses nofollow. Hope this helps some admins and also let the directory owners know.
I have a niche directory that uses no-follow; it’s the owner’s choice. If the directory brings targeted traffic and some business then it’s worth it. If a Directory owners informs would be submitters then I don’t see a problem. Thanks Brian
If its no follow and free i see no problem with it, im never put off by no follow on free, takes all of 30secs to submit.
Would you be put off by a nofollow if you paid for the link pipes? That's not a loaded question btw, its something I'm interesting in finding out from as many as possible as this dictatorship of no-follow is out of order as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah if i paid for it then i wouldn't want a listing no follow, but as free its fine if its no follow for me.
It depends, if my submission brought me a visit that turned into a customer then I would be happy. If I was looking for PR then I wouldn’t bother. Thanks Brian
I think it depends on the directory and what you are submitting for, if you are submitting for traffic then I don't think no follow is much of issue. But I don't think much or any traffic is expected from free directories anyway.
I don't personally use nofollow in my directory but I have submitted to nofollow directories and have had hits from them. To me it makes no difference anymore.
I think most people that submit to these smaller directories like the one you mentioned are looking to boost their rankings and pagerank more than direct traffic, so I would agree that the no-follow tag makes them almost worthless. Although there is a theory that the engines do not always ignore a link with this tag, but I don't know.
