More impressions means more weight, that's the whole point of this new system.

You can receive a weight bonus for running more ads (up to 5).

It is very old statement in coop setup instruction page.

As I understand it, the impressions calculation is only part of the equation and displaying more ads would result in more weight.

Wow...this is some change. On one hand it might bring in some nice sized publishers that were wary of outbound linking; on the other, the SEO benefit does obviously fall. Hopefully the former outweighs the latter.

I'm a data/trend dude too Shawn, so it should be pretty interesting to see how it all shakes out. We "should" be seeing a natural progression to more ad copywriting and banner development on the network then.

Also, a quick thought on a benefit for those that display ads at the top of the page versus the bottom -- look at About.com and what they do for the frame setup; while not the most elegant solution, it'd be an intriguing option.

Is the new weight porportional to old weights? Currently, I have over 50x the weight since this change - but did most peoples weight go out the roof ? I'm not seeing any changes with anything (especially with SERPs - which I think would have been the case with my huge increase in weight).

Basically my question is: is it porportional?

Yes. Googles been smoking crack, so for a lot of sites, the only way to get weight right now is from the impressions.

I've been revalidating daily and it's been doing up each day.

okay now, anybody thought about what is going to happen to your SERP (after a large drop in IBL) when we all implement nofollow on our sites? I assume most of us will, I did.

okay, I guess I didn't understand it correctly then. So if I add nofollow to my site, my weight will be less than if I left out nofollow.

Link scam? I think that is a reflection of your purposes & hopes in using it. It is intended to be an advertising co-op. Nothing shady or disguised. To attempt hiding it would only re-assure misconceptions...

Is it possible to display two weights.
    1) Original Weight
    2) Weight added up due to impressions given?

No, it's not. Weight is lumped into one, and values are dependent on many things (there are not just 2 numbers that are added together).

on the No-follow can I opt out of receiving these links or not,

also the sites that implement the Nofollow can their Inbound link come from other Nofollow sites .. it would be easy to just have two coop networks Shaun

    1) for the people that want to risk google wrath like me

    2) for the buck buck nofollow chicken cuttlets :)

Does anybody subscribe to the theory that you may get flagged as a spammer if you have a high percentage of nofollow links?

No because it is quite probable that very legitimate blogs, forums and sites with public commenting abilities will have large numbers of nofollow links.
