    Hello to everyone here,

I m a novice in apache. I have installed recently apche server on my laptop and everything went ok with the installation (no errors in the error log files). I have tested also the server locally and see that my files were served ok. I have remarked though that noboy could access my site from outside.!
I have cheched several times the access directives (from the manual which is not easy to read) and looked ok to me!! but I can not manage to make my site accesssible to the internet. What am I doing wrong?? (I checked also the firewall setting giving server access rights to apache)
    Please advise!
    my site is at http://ssterpi.homeip.net

    Thanks for your help
I m running windows xp home and apache 2.2.2

It looks like your website is not replying.

    telnet 85.75.111.92 80
    Trying 85.75.111.92...

If you can see the site but no one else i would assume you have a firewall config problem. (you may have XP firewall installed for exampel)

Sorry, still does not work for me.

Is this site hosted at home ? Does your ISP allow this ? Some ISP block port 80 for traffic

    Hmm very strange......!

Yes this site is a small trial site at home. How i can check if the isp blocks port 80 and if so what can i do about it?

ps ping from me seems that the server is working!!

    regards

The easy way is to contact them, and ask.

Do you have one computer at home or several and a dedicated firewall ? Do you have a dynamic or static IP ? Is your IP 85.75.44.17 ? It may be that your Dynamic update software is not working.

In case one computer, make sure your virus software is not built in firewall or you have XP firewall or something else. in case of several computers, i would say it has something to do with your firewall configuration. You should select port forwarding and port 80 to your internal IP of your webserver.

Ping is usualy blocked over internet, i have tried and ping your host and it does not work

    Hi thomas

There is just one machine and a dedicated firewall (zone alarm) I have a dymamic IP address Right now the ip is 85.75.44.17 I m using DynDNS Updater to update the dynamic ip. As a firewall I m using Zone Alarm (with the antivirus built in ) and i have checked that zone alarm is configured ok??
I dont understand what to you mean by saying "In case one computer, make sure your virus software is not built in firewall"

    regards

Would suggest to contact your ISP and ask if hosting is allowed. Then you can remove one possible fault.
If hosting is allowed, you can only have a problem with your firewall or web server (the last is unlikely since it works for you)
