I found a heavily seo optimized domain with .hm domain. Trying to figure out who the heck they are, even if's a shell company, better than nothing. Never heard of .hd domains, and internic whois wasn't any help. Eventually wound up at

    http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm

which appears to be a a list of country code domains, including all the weird ones. hm is "heard and mcdonald islands", wherever that is.

    This brings us to

    http://www.iana.org/root-whois/hm.htm

    where we have

    "Whois server: None listed."

I thought a whois server was required for every terminating... thought that was part of the deal!

Man, if I was google I would quick turn around and kick out all terminating domains from registrars that don't support whois. Sheesh.

Or can someone point me to the real authoritative place where the whois are truly listed?

    Thomas.

That's a great resource. Thanks. I've got it bookmarked for future use since the company I work for has locations in Europe, the UK and Mexico.

The country code for Australia is .au because Aussies often say 'a u' as in 'hey you' - got nothing to do with the fact that it's the first two letters of the word Australia.
