Yeah get some backlinks flying to it. Possibly a SB(scrapebox blast) also try submitting it to pressrelases normally they will provide both linkjuice from the syndication of them and because people will share your sitelink all over the place + You get exposure from other people reading the press release.

To have any kind of traffic, you must first lead site on the first page of Google ...
As you near the top of the page traffic is higher ...
If you're not on the first page of Google, the only traffic you can expect from Amigos to know about your site, and it is always a small number of people ...

Like any website you need good content and backlinks, build both of these and people will come.

it's also a .info site. If you are serious get it off that cheap TLD and get a .com or .net

Article sites are a dime a dozen. Pick a relatively small niche and get the best content for that 1 niche that you can. Then go on a link building campaign to get backlinks and rank for keywords in that niche.

As per your website theme, keywords are very competitive on this niche. so, if you are looking for search engine traffic, you need to build high quality back links for your website.

Getting more traffic from web directories is not so easy if it is a new one. You have to do good off page optimization for your directory..

Make sure your site is SEO friendly. go to seomoz.org learn from there one by one. Or If you want to pay extra money, then advertise in Google Adwords, or MobGold if your on mobile site.

I wouldn't recommend a Scrapebox blast since I got 3000 links in a week on a new website and nil results.

im not sure if this is realistic for you or not, but i think it will work wonders.

how about separating the articles into categories
and then making those categories subdomains.
like if you have articles on Cars
    then make a subdomain cars.article-directory.info
or if you wanted to go bigger, do cars-trucks.
    or autos.
    etc...
this will focus all subdomains into a niche
