I don't see any specific rules for starting threads/posting other than what is written here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_posting_guidelines I have a sales thread here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=3298161 and have received 3 infractions for "Bumping Thread" when as you can see I was either replying to a poster or adding info. Can I get some help with this, I don't want to get banned from these forums but I really don't understand what I can and what I can't do. Thanks, Jas.
I think it's when you posted "check your pm" as they already have a PM - you don't need to post it. I might be wrong though
Yea, that's what I got from looking at your post. I have seen many moderators state on here that you will get dinged if you just have a post that says "PM'ed you" or "check your PM" or "PM sent". The idea is that you don't have to post that you PM'ed them because they know that already when they receive your PM. Please tell me if I'm wrong there mighty ones....
Yep, that is it. 3 posts just telling users to check their PM. This is not allowed. First, it serves no purpose, as the person you PM'd would have received it and does not need notice. Second, the rest of DP does not need to be informed that you sent a PM. While it may seem harmless, your 3 separate bumping posts push your thread to the top and other sellers are thus effectively punished by virtue of your bumping your own thread. Simply, the posts added no value to the thread or DP.
JasMate I suggest you read the infraction sticky in suggestions and feedback as well as the one by ysf1 in solicitations and announcements in regard to bumps and posts made to pad your post count. As other's have surmised your posts receiving infractions were: #12 - Check your PM #16 - Sure can check your pm Check your pm and the last bump that was deleted which would have been #18 Check your pm. Members have been receiving infractions for those type posts for about a year now as you can tell from reading the two stickies mentioned above.
Ok thanks for the clarification. I will not be posting that anymore. The reason I was posting "check your pm" is in the past I have had people not check their pms.
How do you know they weren't checking? What makes you think that if they don't check there pm, that they are going to check th thread.... Just curious of your thinking pattern.........
Because they didn't reply to my pm, or didn't reply until a week later. Sometimes they read the thread but not their pm's I have found.
I guess you could say, "Are you still interesting in (whatever deal)." That way you are asking a legitimate question, and reminding them.
