Have you read this? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1179344 The key question how are you helping your readers with those links you're posting?
You need a considerable amount of traffic to earn substantially from Amazon. Also take note of the 24 hour cookie Amazon has and so you need to have a convincing site content for you to sell something.
Hi, Ya, I also find it difficult to gain affiliates sales. However, there are many affiliate programs around offering high commissions.
You may wish to build some wordpress "store" style sites with a good 3-colum theme and the phpZon plugin. These types of sites are easy to optimize and promote...but the biggest thing is choosing the right keywords to optimize for. Here are some of the benefits of this: 1) "Buying Traffic" - There's a big difference between those that are actively shopping online and those that are just searching for information. If you build a "store" style site and someone stops by and stays, then they are probably in the the market to buy. If someone is in "research" mode and stop by your blog, they may read the entire post, but still not click through and buy. The end results is that if you go after "shoppers" vs. "researchers" you get considerably better results. 2) RSS Feed - you get an RSS fee automatically with your Wordpress platform, so you can submit it to the various RSS directories in addition to your other link building methods. 3) Easy to Optimize - with the All-in-One SEO pack you can optimize each and every page/post for both your main keyword phrase while still isolating a "sub keyword" for various niches. Thus is your main keyword you are going after is "Motorcycle Boots" you could have pages that focus on "Harley Davidson Motorcycle Boots", "Red Wing Motorcycle Boots", "Wolverine Motorycle Boots" etc. Each page supports the site for the main term while trying to score for the sub term.
Like the other posters say, you've got to push your site traffic up to be able to tap into the tiny conversion percentage of people who visit your site and go on to buy something.
I got most of my sales from my Hubs. I've also had some sales from my tech blog but it's still hard to get good amazon revenue from a blog.
I have tried Amazon earlier and I am very very disappointed with it. Amazon makes fool of all of us. In 6 months I had only 1 sale that too when I asked my friend who was going to buy a book to click my link before buying the book. I am thinking of removing amazon.
You need alot of traffic for site to make money or sales with amazon. One other thing is keywords or search terms they find site with. Reviews or info people like to read but not buy as much.
CJ.com has a ton of different affiliate programs in all different categories. www.grownaturalbaby.com
you should not be desperate from amazon. you must check your selected products. are your products are highly demanded? If no,then search high demanded products.
Try to showcase some unique products that will hold visitor's attention and build interest. If you just put banners are a large number of products visitors usually don't give much attention
