How does page rank equate to how a site is doing? There are scads of sites out there with page rank and no freaking visitors! A way better indication of your site or any site and how it is doing is visitors. Rather have a page rank 5 site with max of 100 visitors per day? Or no page rank site with minimum of 1,000 visitors per day?
Of course I'd rather have the latter but I just find it interesting, I don't use it for anything other than curiosity just the same as I check my domain and page authority now and again.
My highest earning and most visited site has the lowest PR of all the ones I run, like I said it just interests me and I'll be sad to see it go, that doesn't make me an idiot who has no idea what I'm doing.
ok, so you find something interesting that has no significance once so ever...? lol OK then... I said "some people" and "like many here". so if you took offense to it, IDK what to tell ya... must be a reason...
Don't worry about PR guy. PR Rank is just a reflection of what is going on on your site. If you take care of that (Great content, quality backlinks, high average visitor time, etc), rest will show naturally. Including PR rank.
You can compare page rank to page authority in open site explorer. Just divide by 10 and you will get pretty close to what the pr would be. I think it is time people look past page rank and find other ways to determine the value of sites. The idea of page rank was actually not developed by Google so they are paying a fee to use it. I would be surprised if Google ever updated it again.
THE REASON IS THESE STUPID PR THREADS THAT PEOPLE BEEN BITCHING ABOUT FOR YEARS.... SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT....
From my point of view the only thing stupid about this thread is your attitude, calm down with the caps lock son.
Page rank is an unreliable way to access a sites worth, over the years it has become easy to purchase back-links which carry PR, which we all know is a breach of Google's quality Guidelines. I would suggest you use Domain authority by Moz and Trust rank by Majestic seo as a more reliable assessment of your sites
If they are going to do away with pr then they need to announce it and do it. It doesn't make sense for some sites to have a pr number and some don't jut because they aren't updating it anymore. Yet another reason why Google sucks!
You guys focus on PR too much.. its really about links. Other sites like Moz and majesticseo help with determining 'value' of a domain/website. I haven't paid attention to PR as much as I do with DA/PA
