Well, it is a good point ...... But, I don't think this will happen. Because then all SEOs would have to do is set-up a whole bunch of useless sites, get them indexed in Google (which won't be tough) and then create text links from all these sites to their clients' (or their own) sites (with appropriate anchor text).

According to you guys, such a site would race to the top in SERPs. I don't think this will ever happen. PR is an instrinsic part of how Google calculates their SERPs (and it makes more sense than anchor text links). Anchor text might get more importance in the future, but links from important (read high PR) sites will always carry more weight, IMO.

    Hi,

I believe that the Title Tag that goes at the very top of your pages and names your page is very important, but I don't believe that using the title tag in your links makes a difference.

    <a href="http://www.yourdomain.com" title="description here">Anchor Text</a>

Yes, title tags on the top of your site are extremely important. I do not know about the title tags in links. I believe it really depends on how you use them. For example if your site sells.. apples (purely an example) if your navigation said:
red apples - green apples - yellow apples - rotten apples
then your content was something like:
we sell apples. apples are great. apples are the best. apple etc.
    then you put
    <a href="http://www.applesite.com" title="we sell apples">Apples</a>
I believe google would 'get the hint' but i believe they would then consider you pushing it and mark it as spam. However, if your site was about one major thing and you had a lack in keywords that were relevant it might help. There are sites that count your keyword percentage in your content so if you are too low, that might be a good idea.. Otherwise it might not be.
    :)

I hope that made sense, just an exagerated example..
