I think we are trying to take measures to correct the energy problems. Also, you seem to be supporting the concept that most American's do not see the energy crisis that we are facing. I think that is just a myth and we have actually lowered our energy consumption by quite a bit in the last year. We still have a long way to go though. We need someone elected who has a plan to hopefully fix this issue. Unfortunately one candidate thinks he can solve the problem by putting more hybrid cars on the road, the other thinks that we can solve it by drilling more.... both are only short term temporary solutions. I don't think it is accurate at all though to say that we are in any form of "fantasy".
I haven't yet read the rest, Gauharjk, but I agree with the above. We discussed some of this a while ago...
The article is interesting. It makes us think how this society has fallen into this trap of over-consumption. Some of the comments are really amazing. Some blame marketing geniuse like P.T. Barnum, who said "There is a sucker born every minute". People have started to think, of how badly dependent the society has become to the latest tech and gadgets, and energy. What would happen if this energy flow gets reduced. If some terrrorist goes out and bombs Saudi Oil loading infrastructure, then that means 5 million barrels a day taken out of the market instantly. Check out http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/ Its really mind-boggling.
