Apparently, the UK/IE Directory is now free only. No more 300 quid to fork out.

Quick, run here http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?38525+UKIE and add your site!

If you think it's too good to be true then please send me some $$$ :D

Nice 1. I was getting prepared to fork out for the directory later this year.

Thanks TOPS for noticing that! :)

No doubt I'll have to wait about 2 years like the DMOZ directory.

Good spot TOPS, I've just submitted now. You'd have to be feeling pretty sick if you paid £300 a few weeks ago!

Thanks TOPS for sharing this great info. :)

I would guess that their volume will increase dramatically. The people that submitted during the first free week will probably get fairly fast approval. Poor folks that paid for the service a week before.

So, is Yahoo accepting free submissions as a pilot project? Will the rest of Yahoo follow? I won't be recommending anyone pay for Yahoo.

If DMOZ is anything to go by, it could take agaes.
I've been waiting 2 months for DMOZ inclusion.

It sounds more like a business/financial technicality to me where they couldn't be bothered with their UK division anymore or something similar. It sometimes works out easier to ditch a revenue stream than to change it and reorganise an overseas division. But this isn't based on any facts whatsoever; just my impression.

But they were also the only (rip-off) directory to charge such a BS fee. Compare it with DMOZ and BCentral and there's no justification apart from that there were plenty of people still willing to pay. But I guess that in order to grow and keep up with G and MSN they need to grow their resources so their customers are more likely to come back over and over again and so they increase their adspace.

    Just some thoughts...

Don't worry about it for another 4 months. I have sites waiting over a year.

Yahoo have only got rid of the 199 one off fee for yahoo.co.uk - its not now free - you now have to pay yahoo.com the 299 annual fee!!! -- unless you are grandfathered in or unless you are one of the rare free inclusions. Nothing has changed with the 'free submit' - its the same as its always been and unlikely to get you listed.
