Alright... I have tried everything, using Infranview to save as... and then set transparency, ... this is driving me NUTS! I want to make this favicon so that when it shows in the browswer there is no white space around it, can someone walk me through how to do it?

I have literally been tinkering with this for hours, Ive tried several different methods Ive found online, to no avail.

Needless to stay, I am quite frustrated at this point!! :(

    The website is:

    SMFtutorials.com

and the favicon.ico is attached below if you feel like playing with it to see what if anything Ive done wrong.. I appreciate any and all help like you would never believe!

(okay it wont let me attach .ico, but it can be found here: http://smftutorials.com/favicon.ico)

    heeeeelp pleeeease!

Yeah I know what you mean. I had this problem too and couldn't figure out exactly how to do it right. I ended up using the site http://www.favicon.cc/ and then manually inserting the transparent space one pixel at a time. Its not the right way but it works. Hope it helps.

Yes, just use the online icon generator. I failed every time I tried to do it locally....

Here's a really basic way to make transparent favicons using Photoshop:
    http://www.thewebsiteprofessionals.com/favicon.html
    (yes that's my site)

@ IanT, if you can upload a BIGGER version of your favicon (png, psd, gif), I'd be happy to shrink it down and "transparent" it for you.
