No love from Google.com

For 10 or more of our top keywords, we rank on the first page on Google.ca. However, we are virtually invisible for these same keywords on Google.com.

According to "Backlink Watch" we have 6151 backlinks, most of which are U.S based.

Our site is hosted in the U.S. as well.

Anyone else experiencing this dilemma? What can we do get similar rankings with Google.com?

What extension is used with your domain ?? .ca or .com, etc ??
Did you ever have or find your site in any positions in Google.com ?
Have you tried searching for your site in other Local Google engines ?? Were you able to find yourself in any of those ??

    Our extension is .com

We are listed in Google.com... Just several pages deep for most keywords.

Other search engines (.fr, .de) offer similar results as Google.com

    Any thoughts?

Having a .com does not mean you will rank well on Google.com

They usually know where your site belongs,,, no matter what you as a webmaster might think is best.

If you market a Canadian or English product or service. then your belong on .ca and .co.uk

Another issues is competitive differences between being able to rank well on Google.com and all other geo located Google engines.

    :)

Your backlinks might be indexed by Google.ca data centers.

I have had this weird issue with one of my health related website. It was a .com domain and a general information site. But my site was ranking in top 10, in country specific google servers. This used to change on a weekly basis. If one week it ranked well in google.ca, the other week it would in google.co.id and so on.

I dont know how it works!
