Well its only been about 10 months since the announcement, but its the first time I read it.:)..then read the initial comments before going to the last comments.

I'll say one thing...I was looking at some admittedly weird long tail search phrase. Almost all links are no-followed. Still there was a thread from here in the first five serps. The search phrase I used was different from the title of the thread. The site still has some oomph!!!

Well, nofollowing links really isn't going to change how our site ranks in search engines (at least not directly). :)

I was just wondering if there's been any difference at all with search engine generated traffic for this site given the "nofollow" change?

A little more, but just looks like standard growth you would have with more content.

Can someone from Digital Point help me with this one. I am a paid member. The links on my signature are to my own sites, and they straightforward simple links. However, 2 of my links are dofollow, and 2 nofollow. Can someone help me resolve this please.

That's normal... "dofollow" links are not a benefit of being a premium member. While there are cases where some might be, it's not a certainty (and not a premium member benefit).

Hi Shawn, OK fine I accept what you are saying. However, why would one Premium Member have dofollow and another not! What would effect this decision. I must assume it's automated.

The difference is going to be in the link itself. And yes, it's automated.

OK, I realise that I am powerless to do anything about this. Nevertheless, it still doesn't completely make sense to me, because the links and the sites are as far as I can see spam free. They are standard business sites. Anyway, that's life I suppose.

The system will always err on the side of nofollowing a link if it thinks there's even a remote chance it *might* be spammish. It's obviously not going to be perfect since you are trying to automatically do something that ultimately is subjective. The easier solution of course would just be to nofollow everything.

Wait, just wondering, how do you know which links are do follow and which are not. Where do you go to see that?

You don't... easiest just to assume all are nofollow.

Like the others said. There is add on on Firefox called NoDoFollow. Search for that and install it and you should be able to see.

hmmmmm..you guys want to make money and this is the only reason you guys are promoting your premium accounts. Make all premium members signature nofollow then I can believe that you are serious about spamming.
