Yea, we have had very poor experiences at directory submissions. Most promise you the moon, but then want you to pay.

Do you mean the domain in your sig?

If so look at the age, you've only just registered it.

You may find as a new domain your backlinks will take a few months to show up :)

If you used the same anchor text and description your links may be discounted for the duplication of them. You may notice that it's the same types of sites that submit to directories, and if all of them use the same name/description then you have hundreds of directories out there with hundreds of pages that all look pretty much the same.

it's time for a change, and it's time for changes on more then one level.

    Give your keywords a twist!

I think the directories in which you have submitted your website might not have approved the submission. Normally it takes few weeks or months for the update process. So, continue with your submissions and be patient. Once the submission is approved you will start getting backlinks.

I haven't seen any backlinks either. I'm beginning to think that Google is penalizing or not simply not valuing backlinks from directories anymore. You've probably read that Aviva and Alive won't come up when doing a search with domain name keywords. They appear to be penalized.

They are probably helpful for getting indexed, but otherwise I'm not so sure these days. :(
