No Increase In Backlinks, Indexed Pages or Traffic

    Hi,

I must be doing something wrong. I had a weight of around 10,000 from the beginning of joining the network. I'm using ads to go to three sites in hopes of bumping up their backlinks and getting pages indexed by google so I could put them in the network and increase my weight even more. Then do the same for other sites not yet in google.

All the ads link to home pages of the 3 sites I'm running the ads for. Ads are displayed on only one site. I have some charts here at digital point tracking changes. There has been an increase of 19 backlinks combined and that's been the only change after about a month. MSN shows an increase of 24 backlinks but I checked them all and they aren't from the network.

Technically this is an ad network but a lot of people I'm sure are trying to do similar things as me.

My weight has gone straight down over the last few days until it's about 1200 now. I've kept a log of the changes in backlinks and pages indexed by MSN for most of the time the ads have been on my site. There's been no drop in those on MSN so it's not like they were wiped out in the weight decrease.

I'm not sure why the weight has decreased since the number of pages indexed according to my chart here at digital point have not changed and I'm using my API.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try keeping in mind that I'm right now just trying to get google to index pages?

    Thanks,

    Robert

    Hi Robert,
You should definitely be showing at least 10 BLs (or more) per day with your low weight. The DP BLs are based on G results. Don't focus solely on G as the G BLs are not updated as frequently as one would expect. I would recommend that you use other tools to check how your BLs are doing across all the major SEs (MSN, Yahoo etc). Try using these tools as well as the DP tools:

    http://www.marketleap.com
    http://www.mcdar.net
    http://www.urltrends.com

What are the URLs for the sites you are monitoring?

    Hang in there!

    Cheers
    Frank

    Have you enabled the ads?

Someone here admitted they hadn't. I've almost forgotten myself a couple of times.

    Thanks for the help.

I did enable the ads... after a few days. I made that mistake too.

I've been checking each day at MSN for backlinks and I'll check those other tools mentioned as well.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Thanks for that tip Patient. I did not realize the ads had to be enabled. So that's pretty cool. I seem to be learning this inch by inch. Like rnewton01's post, I really have no idea what he's talking about yet.

In G, look at the total number of links as well link|www.yourdomain.com.

I notice when that number goes up, so do my rankings in ALL of my keyword phrases.

Currently however, that number for me, has not went up in the last week.
Strangely enough, MSN has dropped all of our pages except 1. I have written them however they have not written back. (what a surprise).
G is not updating any of our links, so our keyword phrases are kind of hanging there in cyberspace.
Yahoo is maintaining as well even though the backlinks go up everyday.

    Something is going on.....

I tried that link|mysite.com command and it shows more backlinks. That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, none of the links come sites with co-op ads.

After almost a month I thought I'd find a backlink listed somewhere. Not at google, yahoo, MSN or using some of the google API search tools.

Has anyone seen this before? My weight was at a little over 10,000 when I began but now it's at 5,500 or so. I should see something by now, right?

    Thanks,

    Robert

    1. Did you know how many backlinks in each prior to starting this?
    2. Have you validated yet?
    3. From what I have seen, I believe that G is using link|www.mydomain.com in order to place your website within the search engine and link:www.mydomain.com in order to place PR on your website.

Make sure you have validated otherwise you won't be showing any links.

    Hi Wayne,

Yes, I've done the validation. And still no backlinks from sites in the co-op. I really don't understand it.

    Thanks,

    Robert

    Hi Wayne,

I started tracking backlinks a few days after joining the group. The number of backlinks has increased a little but I can verify them as not being from a site running co-op ads.

In the search I subtract out the URLs from my site and also a blog with link:mydomain.com -site:mydomain.com -site:myblog.com. There aren't too many links left over and I visit each page and the link is usually from a traffic equalizer or nichemonster type site.

I've only been documenting for MSN so I'll start for yahoo also. I've checked yahoo a few times for backlinks from sites in the co-op and have never found one but I don't recall how many pages if any have been added to yahoo's index since joining.

    Thanks,

    Robert

    I have the same problem.
22500 in consolidated weight. I now run three ads (all enabled), no new backlinks in a week to any of the sites.

    Okay,

If you are talking about just G, then don't sweat it.
    1. You will not notice ANY increase in link:www.mydomain.com however, you will notice an increase in link|www.mydomain.com. The latter is the one to pay attention to. As that number rises, so will your keyword rankings.

    2. In the past week, my total links using link|www.mydomain.com have actually dropped. This is not just happening to you. I have a 25K weight.

    3. If you are soley talking about MSN, I have noticed a decrease in my backlinks in the past week there as well. Also, they are having some huge issues right now. All of our pages have been deindexed by MSN except for the home page. Instead of getting hundreds of people a day from MSN, we are receiving around 6 per day. The strangest thing is the fact that they are going to the pages that we were receiving traffic to prior to MSN deindexing our website. So apparently, we are in there for part of the time and not for the rest of the time. Strange.

    4. Yahoo is booming. I have over 10K backlinks from when I first started 1 month ago.

If I search for the exact string I used for anchor text I get 0 results. If I search for exact strings used on ads on my own site I get results. This is on Google.

I see no new backlinks to my ad (thats been around 7days+) because I can verify that all inlinks are from other site I operate. This is true for both Google and MSN.

    So, what gives?
Am I doing something wrong? It definitly seems.

    Grazzy,

1st- Give it more than a week.

2nd- I have no clue what you are attempting to say.

I am going to take a stab..... Apparently you used the keyword "widgets" when making your ads. When you search for "widgets" in Google 0 results come back.

    Is this correct?

Did you research your keyword phrase prior to utilizing it or did you pull it out of thin air?

Hehe, "widget"? Wtf.. Where did you get that from? But you raise a point, "keyword"? Where do I specify this? All I can see is anchor text + description?

I've given it more than one week, ads on my site are indexed on google (for other advertisers).

    Grazzy,

LOL. Widget is a term used in place of a keyword.... so if I want to tell you my problems without telling you my keyword phrase, I use widget or widgets.

You can research your keyword and/or keyword phrases here:
    http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
Use the word tracker results... not the overture results.

We started seeing results within the first week however we also had a 30K weight.
We have seen major results for the first 3 weeks but this last week it has been stagnant. That is probably where you are at right now.
