Have you been building backlinks over the last couple of months? Roughly how many a week would you say that you build? And do you make sure the the links are relevant and are of good quality?
You possibly got caught by an algorithm update or two. In August and September alone Google made 65 changes to there algorithm. In that same period Matt Cutts announced the EMD update designed to reduce low-quality exact-match domains in the search results. Later he revealed that a Panda update had been launched followed by a Penguin data refresh and he updated the Page Layout algorithm, all in the same period of time. Google have indeed been busy lately. And it seems there is a flood of complaints from webmasters claiming to have been hit by these algorithm updates. So I suggest you have a good look at your site and see which update you fall under. Always remembering there could be other reasons for your site loosing rankings. Example, server side issues or self inflicted screw ups. As stated above, post your URL then forum members could have a look.
What is your website url and the keywords you were targeting for so we can check what may have gone wrong?
If you don't share your url then will you provide your target keyword, if your target keyword is very competitive then it's a normal thing in SEO.
May I know which CMS you are using?? Have you done these basic steps: 1. If you are using WordPress, update your ping list. 2. Use All in One SEO Pack plugin for SEO. 3. Use Google XML Sitemap Plugin and submit your sitemap to Google Webmasters Tools. 4. Change your permalink to %postname%.html for better SEO.
Time doesnt mean anything, not saying that your website getting older and your ranking will be better. It is all about how good your website (quality content) and how good your backlink (quality and quantity of the backlink)
You need to deeply analyze your website and update regularly with fresh quality content. You can take help from Google webmaster tool to check the health and other issues with your website. Google likes fresh quality content and quality backlinks. So, try hard to get good quality back links for your website. Hope these tips will help you to improve your SERP! thanks Ricky
