No Impressions after the fiirst day

    Hi everyone,

I have an issues with Adrwords; I setup a campaign about a week ago with 722 keywords. First day, I got:
    2,500 impressions
    14 clicks
    0.56 Click Through Rate (CTR)

However, since that first day, nothing. No impressions at all for the following 6 days. And since this is a geo-targeted campaign, I can't try the search queries myself because I'm not present at that location.

Quality score is 7 flat throughout the campaign, landing page is up & running, keywords are all enabled, I also see no errors anywhere in the campaign.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Thank you for looking at my post

    Amr

P.S I tried the search feature but could not find any relevant posts. Sorry if this is a re-post

Judging by the number of impressions and the low ctr, I would guess they were mostly on the content network.
In which case it may be that one of your keywords matched a news story, and all your impressions went on one site, for the duration of the story.
That is just a guess, however, you need to run search query and placement reports to find out what happened.
And you can try the search query for yourself - use the preview tool to see searches in different locations. https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool

    Hi Magda,

The low CTR & Impressions is actually because the campaign is geo-targeted; I only target Orange County, California. Can you think of any other reasons?

In the meantime, I'll run search query and placement reports and see what comes up.

Thank you, I'll use this to see if my ads come up

    Appreciate you help

Try running new ads as well, are you a/b testing ads? Improve your ctr by slowing writing better and better ads. If no one is clicking your ads, then google stops showing them! If they aren't making money on clicks, then they won't show your ads.

Also make sure that since you are just starting, make sure your ads are completely different. Also, only run 2 ads side by side, so that a clear winner can be seen. If you have any other problems, feel free to shoot me a pm with specifics.

I'm not testing anything. This is a brand new account with a new campaign. I don't understand why the ads stopped showing.

I'm paying $3 per click, they're making a LOT of money off of every click, that's for sure.

What do you mean by completely different? I did not copy someone else's ads. I created mine from scratch.

I'm only running 1 ad for the whole campaign. Since this is the first trial, I usually start by 1 ad. Then I start making variations of it. The thing is, I can't the first one to show :(

Please let me know if you need more information. I'd be more than glad to provide full details.

    Thanks

What you're paying for your keywords is that the highest among your set of keywords or is it possible that there are advertisers paying more?

    Hi kidatum,
By bid is $3 per click; this results in my ads showing in positions 1 - 8 and clicks costing me as much as $2.91.

    Does this help?

If you have more questions, please just let me know

I've also been doing some research, could it be that my account is being reviewed?

Like I said, it's a brand new account and the first day it was setup, I had 2,500 impressions. However, come day 2 and everything's down to zero. It's been 6 days now since I first put up the campaign; I published it on the 19th.

Question is, does it take that long for Google to review the account?

    Thanks

    Amr

Try this, go to adwords keyword tools and in this estimating tool enter your keywords. In the fields for the CPC and Max budget leave them blank. The query will assume you're going as high as possible. The results should show you the cost per click to be in positions 1-3.

One other main reason why you received large amount of impressions in the first day is because your ad was a new one and it got higher priority even over the higher paying ones.

You can try two things: 1. Change your ad wording, try something different to catch user's attention. 2. For may be 2-3 days select higher cost per click that you are willing to pay.

You mentioned your account is being reviewed, now is that your account or your ad campaign? Because if your ad campaign is under review then it won't show up at all. If you don't feel safe posting a keyword or two for which you're trying to advertise send me a PM and I'll check it out. Also, include your website while you're at it. Cheers.

    No, it isn't.
There is absolutely no reason why a geo-targeted campaign should have a low ctr for 2,500 impressions. In fact, tight targeting by any criteria should result in a better ctr.
Either, you are on the content network, as I thought originally, or your low click through rate is the reason your ads won't show again, as it's depressed your quality score.

I'd like to know as well if you have the content network turned on. Would make it easier to answer your question. Also, are all those 722 keywords in one group? I suspect the answer to both is yes but need to make sure before I tell you what's going on.
