No google PR update after developing lotsof backlinks, why?

Ok, so i spent the last 2-3 months on buying quality backlinks from webdirectories and other sites. Most are PR 4 and PR 5, and even a site with PR 7 has a sidewide link pointing to my site.
But still the PR is stuck at 2, like it was before. The site in question is online since april 2006.
I checked on all datacenters, all the same. Did google skip some sites ?
    Why o why ?

It seems that Google are possibly in the process of updating the PageRank across their data centres, so you may need to wait a bit longer before you see the fruits of your labour.

Also, PageRank is actually updated continously within Google, they just don't show it. Therefore, your SERPs should still have been improving...

I agree, I don't know of any "predicted pr" tool I ever saw that was worth it's weight in traffic.

But, I would second Cryogenius's comment. I don't see any consistency with the pr queries I throw to the datacenters right now, it is odd but it always is when an update is in progress.

    Wait a few days.

This is the first time I think a prediction tool may have gotten it right. The google live PR on my site is showing it going to a PR4 and the prediction tool on iwebtool shows my site going to a PR4. Just when I was beginning to give up hope on prediction tools.......

It is like bragging rights. When you meet up with the local nerds at the Coyote Ugly or Hooter's your friends will introduce you as "The Guy with a PR8" and the girls who overhear will probably think you are well-endowed.

Don't believe predicted pr any more. The PR shown toolbar is very old, so wait for next PR update.

Its because the PR was a snapshot in time. This update it looks like it was over a month ago. The backlink update was sooner than that. Make sense?

Apparently both the TBPR and BL's pdates were done a few days ago (sept 28th) according to pagerank history which is usually very accurate :) But the updates usually take a while to propagate across all the DCs...

Even though the PR update on the toolbar started on the 28th it doesnt mean that those are the current PR of the sites on that date. These are always backdated a few weeks even a month or more sometimes. The updated PR that is now being show is still old but the backlinks are not as old.

I have missed out on the present PR update, as my site is fairly new.
How frequently does the update take place. I mean since I will be missing the October PR update, after how many months is my next chance?
