No gambling content in adsense? Why they display gambling ads then?

I'm bit confused about Google's TOS. They say:

Then I was checking some sites and noticed a "gamblingfunding...something.com" ad. Unfortunately I didn't click the ad (out of curiosity) but to me it the site name looked like it was about "funding your gambling".

If I'm wrong (and in reality the site was not gambling related - which might very well be possible) then we can all stop reading this thread and go to somewhere else...

...but in case I happen to be right and it really showed a gambling ad - how is that possible?

Is Google saying that "gambling sites cannot display google ads", but "google can display gambling ads"?

    Big G Monopoly? :)

Okay... so google will display gambling ads - but don't allow ads to be displayed on gambling sites.

Could somebody explain the reason behind this?

Premier AdSense publishers can place there AdSense adverts on Gambling and Adult websites. Adult and Gambling adverts have megabucks involved within the niche, so by restricting its use people can reap the benefits.

Plus I don't think Google want to advertise subjects of an adult/gambling nature too much as you have to remember a big audience of the Internet are children. Plus, adult/gambling websites don't want children clicking on their links anyway as (1) it wastes their time and money, (2) children don't exactly do a lot of adult browsing or gambling {or at least they shouldn't}. So that market isn't too appealing to everyone anyway.

And another reason - Google's moto is, "Don't be Evil!".

Oh no, not case closed, I'd wait until either someone confirms this or someone gives another point of views. My answers are based upon hear-say and personal beliefs, partly backed up by truth. There maybe another reason why (but I can't think of one). Sorry I just don't want you thinking I'm right if I ain't because then I look like an idiot :p.

Well, that sounds sensible to me - so I'm backing up this by "common sense" ;)

How do you know premier adsense publishers can place their adverts on gambling sites?
