Making SE output resulting in users VOTE - this is most stupid idea I even seen. Everybody knows how easy to be in TOP of DIGG and other services like that, just because it only based on users vote. So I presume that SE will develope algorithms to avoid users impact (do remember, that spamers improove algorithm as well). Of course SE can collect users votes and the profile of users behaviour on different sites, but this will be not major part of algorithms.

So... SEO will be for long time

SEO is what makes a site good for the SE's to give it value. If you have a site that is SEO's correctly, then all you need is fresh content and backlinks. It should grow nicely from then on.

As far as SEO's future. There will always be a need for SEO.

no search engine can judge the quality of content.

Google just looks at how popular the content is on the net and how relevant the content is to the search query.

no matter how advanced Google becomes, incoming links will always be one of its top tools to judge popularity and relevancy of content.

and so SEO will remain and flourish.

yes, i understand about toolbar but it will be even easier to manipulate analytics and toolbar data, believe me. And I don't think Google is that stupid.

Now I also believe that SEO won't ever die as long as there are search engines. In fact, it will keep growing. Take a look at the statistic of criminality today. Although the law becomes more and more tight, but there are so many cold cases these days, which mean criminality evolves when law and technology "force" them to evolve. When Google policy becomes tighter and harder to manipulate, search engine optimizers will try to evolve as well.

Good SEO will always thrive....the real problem I see is all the spammers and scammers that claim to be SEO experts. So many website owners have been taken-in by these cheats that they get soured to the whole idea of SEO.

SEO will always be there, but as always things change, you just got to change with them. But all the core elements will be the same. Run a good site, update it, have good content, have good sites link with you and the rest will take care of itself.

This post should refer to SEO spamers.. If you deserve to rank well - you will. And I'm glad that black hat era will end ( if it ends) ...

Couldn't agree more, in fact the main problem started when people confused SEM with SEO. SEM would always be there, albeit in different form and SEO well one can't get rid of it ever.
