Hi all Just logged into my web masters account on google. I looked under the link tab to find that google was picking up and counting No Follow links to my website. Does this mean that google now gives strength on no follow links ? Please give your opinions Thanks
All the search engines count nofollow links, it's not a secret... the problem is that we don't know for sure how google and others treat them and if it passes any benefits to our websites. It's a drawn out agruement as some people claim nofollow helps them a lot whereas others say nofollow are useless. From my personal point of view I think that it's nice to have nofollow links as well (especially if they are related) as all the links will look more natural and you never know how what benefit google gives you for having them.
The major search engines have repeatedly confirmed that nofollow links may appear in the various link reports, but they do not carry any ranking value. None.
I believe no follow links do still help, they will show up as backlinks sometimes in googles index, whenever i am submitting to directories i always take the time to submit to a directory - even if its a no follow one. after all, a link is a link, and while it may not count for a whole lot in google, it might get you ranked in some future search engine, or current one in another country
Any type of back-link to your website is great. It could have no value, but it's still there and the word will spread of your website.
I take a pretty simple approach to links. It is links that make the internet the internet. The internet is connected by links. So I'm in favor of any links I get from any honest, above-board websites. Most individual links may have a near-zero impact. But when you add them all up, they provide thousands of opportunities for your website to be linked to the internet.

As stated above, no follow doesn't pass link juice. But another point is that every time a spider crawls a page and even if it has a no follow link to your site, it will go to your site, and index it, and if you are uploading fresh content at a timely fashion, it will mean it will get crawled quicker and google like fresh content and it will help your seo efforts.
no-follow doesn't pass link juice but it will help you on establishing Keyword Focused Anchor Text that will help your seo
Is google completely honest with us all the time? I am unsure about the no-follow links. Wikipedia is a good example. Why would they not count outbound links from that? It is a reliable source (99.99% of the time). Some webmasters I know believe they have benefitted from links from wikipedia.
