No Follow or Do Follow Links Within Sponsored Posts

I was signing up to a site which allows me to write sponsored posts. One of the questions asked was whether I would allow no follow or do follow links or either.

Can someone advise? I don't want to damage the ranking of my own site.

I would read the sponsored post services ToS, most likely the links have to be followed.

Doing sponsored posts killed one of my main blogs a couple years back, to many sponsored, not enough real content.

Hey smoodliver, thanks for that, but what exactly does it mean? I get that the google spiders go from the link to check it out if you have dofollow and they dont if you have nofollow. So does that mean that they get an extra opportunity for ranking? I know on some of the WP plugins for content population that they also ask this question but I dont understand why anyone would not want the spiders to crawl their links? What bad things can happen as a result?

Thanks for the heads up on sponsored posts too. Ive only done one so far and I do intend to be very careful with these. However, if you read my main blog, it will become apparent that I'm not short of content so I intend to mix them up and use them once a week at most. I have a duty to my readers to maintain my integrity and sponsored links will only be used within a post framework where they make sense.

Better you opt for "either" option. If you got a nice opportunity that you think is worth to give dofollow link you can make the link dofollow.

Defiantly follow links if someone is paying for search engines for that backlink plus other reasons.
