NO Follow links working

I've used this Firefox extension to identify nofollow links on blogs, so while they will provide traffic they won't help PR. Here's the URL for the extension. "http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus"

 

No no no no, Yahoo does not treat nofollow as normal link. Yahoo treats a nofollow as a nofollow link. It was confirmed by Yahoo back in 2005 and there are couple of thread on that.

 

Where are you people getting your nonsense from? Yahoo! and Bing respect the nofollow tag! (did you even bother to read the Wikipedia link posted earlier in this thread?

 

I agree with @whitespparow, No follow will not help with your PR, but can only help with traffic. I'd suggest you focus on trying to get more Dofollow links and whenever you leave comments on blogs, make sure it adds value and not blatant link-planting exercise.

No follow links are for advertisement purpose(PPC), the concept of PPC is working only on no follow links it drives traffic.....
But if you really interested in getting ranked higher then work on do follow...

if no follow link site have higher PR than it will be beneficial but for low PR or no PR no follow link should not work to get SERP.

 

You have checked i Yahoo and Yahoo index and shows all and most of links for a site no matter it is no-follow or do-follow

Check your links on Google and you will see the differnce as google shows only high quality relavant links for a site and index do-follow bur exceptionally some times it also index no-follow links.

 

Well I am going to answering everyone for their vauable opinion.

When I posted I found only links from yahoo. For couple of seconds lets take that I don't know google and not want to work with google, in that case is it not beneficial for me to getting links from some no-follow links to improve position in Yahoo/Bing ?

As per discussion I think "No-Follow" & "Do-Follow" concept respect to the search engine is VARIABLE.

 

Thanks for sharing your opinion. PR is different I don't bother about PR I just checked my SERPs in YAHOO & Google too it also improving in SERPS.

Backlinks: Do-follow + No-follow, Is it not ?

 

No follow links only can drive some traffic for you. But it doesn't help you imprive your PR and keyword positions for a keyword.

How ever Yahoo doesn't follow what "no follow" is meant for. I mean yahoo does crawl through nofollow links(according to wikipedia). But Google does respect a nofollow attribute for a link.

No-Follow links getting indexed by Search Engines but it will not provide you better ranking ki SERP as NO Follow mean no search engines follow your link to improve the Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP)

 

I don't know is it be fair enough or not to summarize from above discussion.

"NO-FOLLOW" links benefit:

1) Give Traffic - All are same opinion
2) No PR improvement - All are same opinion
3) Indexing - Yahoo - Maximum People agree with it - Google - Minimum people agree with it
4) SERPs improvement - Yahoo - Few people agree with it, - Google - Maximum people disagree with it.

You need to note down these points one after the other and memorise them in order to work on the changes required.

No follow links, yes, they are valid backlinks.

But, no matter how many no-follow links, you tend to loose out in SERPs.

By no follow link you are providing resources so that way it may be helpful.

 

i am also commenting on quality nofollow blogs now days and consider that these comments are improving my sites ranks.

 

You can't check the backlinks that GOOGLE uses to determine your PR with a YAHOO backlinks checker.

If you want to see the backlinks that GOOGLE considers when determining your PR (which is a major factor in SERP position), then you have to use GOOGLE Webmaster Central.

Yahoo has a completly different set of criteria. Backlinks that Yahoo shows may help in your placement on YAHOO, but that doens't mean they help with your placement on GOOGLE.
