Hey everyone, I hope all on this forum are having a great, traffic filled, profit filled day haha, I have a quick question for the SEO & link building experts here. If a link is "No Follow", does it have any authority (more importantly any affect on the SERPS) with search engines other than Google?? Thanks in advance for all advice Sil^er_Hunter
Well, the answer could be yes and no. Some NoFollow links still drive a lot of traffic to your site. Some of the biggest social networks or social bookmarketing sites (eg Facebook, Twitter, Delicious) are NoFollow. This doesn't mean actively using them and driving visitors to your site can't positively impact your rankings, even within Google. As for the other search engines, some of the smaller ones, for example "Ask," does not recognize NoFollow, and therefore the link still has an impact. Yahoo follows NoFollows but doesn't include these in their ranking calculations. Bing is a little more selective on what NoFollows they count and don't count. Overall, Bing places less value on backlinks in general than Google. Even NoFollow backlinks can help your site though. Maybe not from an SEO stance, but in many other ways.
i am sure and agree with CIKMarketing as google will put high juice on Dofollow link and discard all of any nofollow link but of course, we use some SN such as twitter to drive hundreds or even thousands of visitors to our site.
This is a GREAT question! I wonder about the nofollow and google on sites like twitter and facebook, I use google alerts for all my keywords and have received a bunch of alerts for links placed on "nofollow" sites like twitter and facebook, furthermore I can find many indexed twitter and facebook results for the given keywords. I guess my point is that even if they do not follow the links, they still index the pages the links are on, including the link. Your visitor looks for McDonalds, finds a twitter result, goes to twitter and then clicks your link... To me that adds a lot of value (and traffic)... just my $.02...
