Hi I want opinions about rel='external nofollow Does this mean that if i see beside a url that link is no Follow ? Over 70% of blogs have No Follow tag. This is so difficult even blog comments are relevant. Only helps with referral traffic ?
Where is your proof that 70% blogs are no follow? But you are right, no follow means traffic only.... dofollow to build authority. no follow for traffic only.
Yeah by default blog comment links are nofollow. It is actually the reason why the tag was introduced!
I have seen a few people online try to say that no follow links can be beneficial in Google SEO but I was offered a free review copy of a service about 18 month ago for Wikipedia links. They were no follow but from one of the largest domains available and the page they were aimed at didnt shift in the SERPs in the slightest.
By default, links are do-follow to make them no-follow by default there is an extension for this and if you can also make the link no-follow by default to make some changes in the coding part of the website. And blog commenting is not recommended for the building backlinks and it is right no-follow links help you to increase the website traffic
Hi, dcristo By default all the links are do-follow, you have to make them no-follow you by using plugins or make changes in your website.
I am not talking about WordPress if you add the blog page yourself to your website without using the CMS so, definitely, there is no inbuilt tag that has the attribute no-follow by default.
Well I am talking about WordPress and MOST blogs use WP. The nofollow tag was introduced to reduce comment spam.
Yes, I agree with you but I am talking about for other blogs to that are not using WordPress. My Bad, I didn't get you.
It is because there are lots of spammers out there trying to hunt do follow blog sites just to inject their links in massive comments. So be it and mostly all blog sites are no follow, for anti spammers, thank god.
I experimented with dofollow and nofollow links a few years ago, and found out that some search engines actually rewarded for nofollow links a lot. I created dozens of sites and used only nofollow links to link to these sites. All the search engines indexed websites properly (so nofollow helps in indexing even with Google and other major search engines), but they didn't rank well. However, after a few months of building more nofollow links, some smaller search engines ranked these sites much higher. To sum up - the real-life experiment reveals that nofollow links still can help getting your website indexed, and may even increase rankings in some situations. But don't expect much, especially if your main targer is major search engines.
