We all go down the route of searching for dofollow links even though Google no longer looks at PR. So is it worth getting both no and do follow links? Personally I think it is and I try to get 60% do and 40% no follow. What do you think?
You want both types of links to make your link building look natural. NoFollow links definitly do help to some extent, but DoFollow from authority sites with the right anchor text is most important.
People who say NoFollow doesn't count for anything are people who just repeat what they're told. Sure they're worth a bit less but its just one factor. Don't believe me? Go reg a new domain and start a site. Build only NoFollow links and watch it increase in search engine rankings.
If you build your business organically and naturally, you will get a healthy amount of both and that is ideal
However both are important but Google gives major priority on Do follow links. So a combination of no follow and do follow would be more worthy in my opinion.
I'd probably go 80% do follow, and 20% no follow. Nofollows actually used to pass a little bit of strength, or at least anchor text relevance (we did an experiment and got a page ranking this way). The good thing about nofollow links is they still increase your link count to possibly scare your competitors, or at least discourage them.
Sooner or later you are going to get slammed by Google. Having all dofollow links is going to raise alarm bells.
Why cant you spend the same time in getting a dofollow link (whatever the reason) its still better to go with the crowd... right?
Pretty sure Google still looks at PR. But yes, it's definitely wise to mix it up a bit. Having nothing but dofollow links can raise a red flag. This can be pretty easily avoided by simply diversifying your backlink sources though. Don't just rely on one method.
Who says Google doesn't give a damn to dofollow links and PR? But, yes you should be trying to get mix of no-follow and do-follow links as only DOfollow links would raise the suspicion bar in the eyes of google and you'd be better off NOT doing so!
Well, I try to get DO-follow links, but I'm not bothered too much if I post a comment on a NO-follow site. First, because it looks natural. Second, because Google is not the only kid on the block. Third, because even Google has hinted in Webmaster Central that it DOES consider NO-follow links. In any case, if somebody is interested, the comments in my blog are DO-follow, but don't try to spam me, because all comments are moderated, and I ruthlessly trash everything that does not contribute to the discussion or provides added value.
Firstly there is no rel tag named do-follow, but there is the rel tag no-follow. Do-follows are those links which are not having rel=no-follow attrib. In my opinion no-follow doesn't help bit. Links that are not having rel=no-follow helps better.
Its worth getting both do-follow and no-follow links. If your site is getting do-follow links only, it is not natural. You need to have natural link profile to long term ranking.
They help the SERPS both and that's all that mathers NOFFOLOW doesn't pass PR but only noobs care about PR ..
Matt Cutts once said a link is a link whether its dofollow or nofollow, but in practical dofollow links carry more value than nofollow links.
