i was wondering, are there a lot of dirs with NO FOLLOW attribute...?!!??? i mean what is the point of it...it supposed to be a directory and for search engine to follow the links...!
i have a no follow only directory no follow does not mean a search engine will not follow it. It will still count as a backlink it just simply wont pass on any link juice.
I have a number of followed directories. The only no-follow directory I own is a niche directory which is more of a webmasters resource aimed at providing traffic and customers. I see no problem is long as submitter is aware before submitting. Thanks Brian
According to my control panel I get hits from nofollow directories just as much as I do from follow. So to me, it doesn't make any difference anymore. I would trade PR juice for serps any day of the week...
it has no problem if the directory is free, but the owner should let the submitters know the no follow tag will be added on their links.
It doesn’t have to be free just because it’s a no-follow directory. If the directory doesn’t make any money it will be less likely to be promoted. If a directory specialises in one niche and is promoted correctly it will bring you traffic and maybe some business, it will also be less likely to get penalized. I have spent a good few $$$ for submission to directories that ended up penalized so money not well spent at the moment in time, I learnt that traffic is more important than PR. Like I said before I have a number of directories and use no-follow on one, this may change in the future. Let your customers know if you use no-follow and let them decide for themselves. Thanks Brian
thanks for all the opinions....but we are talking about little directories...i mean i have submitted my sites to over 2000 dirs overall...and they only thing they provide is boosting my site to the top...i don't get that much traffic from them... so what is the point of having a NO FOLLOW link!!?
I don't know what half the posters in this thread are saying, bunch of amateurs. a directory is WORTHLESS if it's a nofollow.
