Yes Yahoo and Bing also check "no follow" attribute, but i saw yahoo still consider no follow link as backlink
A friend of mine was saying that while all the major search engines still use the "nofollow" attribute, Google has started counting "nofoolow" since so many websites started using the attribute. In their eye's they still count these links towards PR and anchor text. However, it may not pass as much juice as a regular link. Of course with the secret of Google.........everything is hearsay and just a guess.
The no followed links are counted by Google as well but such links, even if the number is like thousands over the net would not pass the PageRank juice to the web recipients but they could still be useful to the rankings of sites.
Here is the handling way on each search engines when their bots found "nofollow" link. Google - They are still crawl on the link to see destination page purpose. No Pagerank / Authority / Link power will be passed through Yahoo - They will crawl and count the link as backlink. Yahoo Slurp does not know about "nofollow" attribute Bing - Same as Yahoo.
only google search do not crawl "nofollow" but other search engine are still crawl the "nofollow", including yahoo search and bing search
Other search engines are also consider the "nofollow". I think you never works with yahoo or other search engines for search engine optimization.
Actually every search engine considers nofollow as backlink, but it does not gives important to that website link. If you get a dofollow backlink, you have chances to get high page rank.
I didnt know that Yahoo and Bing consider these links valids as backlinks.....then it means that comment spam does have a reason to exist !!!!. Has anyone tried an experiment with this and see how it turned out to be with yahoo and bing?.
All search engines follow nofollow links even google, it's just that google don't count it as a backlink. Yahoo and MSN also follow it, but they also count it.
yahoo msn/bign follows the nofollow links like there is no attribute added to it. so nofollow links are not totally useless
I see conflicting information about do follow and no follow. The truth is if you were to run a Search Engine, you would most likely want to make every link, even no follow have some relevance in ranking. Since you, yourself would have the ability to see it's importance, surely Google, Yahoo, and Bing have. This means do follow of course is the best/safest/strongest option but no follow should not be disregarded as a waste of time. Matt
The entire concept of nofollow was discussed at a search engine symposium several years back and all of the search engines came to an agreement that this sort of attribute was indeed necessary. I am not sure who originally came up with the idea, but everyone agreed that the attribute could be used by site owners as well as search engines to place the focus on the more important aspects of a site. Google follows the nofollow rule but some aspects of nofollow can also be achieved using robots.txt.
Don't know about yahoo but msn only follow dofollow links like other search engine do. The link must be dofollow it looks natural link.
google will not give importance to a no-follow link , but this type of links will help your site index faster and make your linking scheme look more 'organic' in the eyes of google.
