Without having looked into it too far, I imagine there's enough differentiation in the code to avoid the penalty, although I don't think 'uk it sales employment' as a string is very competitive

To begin Duplicate content is a FILTER not a penalty.

Second, it only filters out dupes when it is short on other matches – this term is not exactly all that competitive

Further more U are using the UK – data centers which means likely less competition for the terms.

So it is not at all unusual. Now try and reproduce that on a more competitive term – ain’t gonna happen.

I have articles I have syndicated that rank higher than the version on my site –though both come up … once again though, it is not that competitive a term.

This is the same as the Supplemental Index – if the SE can’t find enough quality results from the main index it will start spitting back results from the SI - the same applies to Dupes

Yeah tis my baby - thanks

I am (slowly) trying to fill it up with common SEO topics... thus Dupes made the list (lol)

I have more general stuff on my personal site of SEO Rants - and I have a small SEO Forum News section with sort of 'stickies' from various boards around the web

Anyhoo - most folks get panicky talking about dupes for fear of penalization. It is a very tough thing to do. You would have to satisfy more than a few elements to incur an actual penalty.

For the most part it is used to FILTER results... not penalize sites
