I submitted my sitemap 3 weeks ago. Google webmaster tools says, no pages from the sitemap are indexed yet. The last crawl on my site was done on April 5th. Since then Google hasn't crawled my site. My site is little over a month old. I created some incoming links from digg and ezinearticles. Only my first digg link was affective which sent me some initial traffic from google. Now any link i submit to digg or ezinearticles has no effect. My traffic is 0. Is this normal for a new site? When can I expect google t crawl the site again and start sending traffic from 10-15 inbound links I have from ezinearticles and digg?
The pages of my site are indexed in Google but google hasn't crawled my site till april 5th. For a new site how long does it take to see traffic? When I search my site using the domian name it comes up in google but when I use the anchor keyword I used to link my site at dig.com and in my ezinearticles its doesn't show up.
Go to webmaster tools in Google tools if you have submitted your site or blog map their , it will show you last visits of Google bots to your site as well as errors also why they are not indexing your site , check errors .
Maybe you are trying to target a competitive keyword? Your site is still new, so don't expect miracles overnight. Here's my opinion... If you have not performed any keyword research, check out this free Windows keyword tool. Enter your main keyword and click gather keywords. It will list 100 top keywords associated with your main keyword. It will also list daily search estimates so you can target keywords that actually have traffic. If you already did this, accept my apologies for going over it again. But it is important, so I did not want to assume anything. Go to this link and see if your site is in the top 1000 search results of Google. If it is, take note of your position. 10 to 15 inbound links is nothing, especially for moderately competitive niches. You need more links, with the anchor text of your targeted keywords in them. See my signature for a list of free directories. With roboform.com's free form filling software and a good directory list, you can build one way backlinks at a reasonable pace. Randomize your submission title and details every 50 or so submissions. If each submission is unique, that would be even better but it is very time consuming. As you build links, your rankings should start improving. That's why I said to take note of your present rankings. Give it a week or so to see some movement and chart your progress. As others noted, you should check Webmaster Tools for any errors. However, I think you would have seen that already since you are checking the last crawl date. IMO you need more backlinks. As these backlinks get indexed, your rankings will move upwards. You can also submit to social bookmarking sites, comment on blogs, and place your link in your forum signature. Good content will get other Webmasters to link to you on their own, so always try to provide the best content you can. Good luck.
It's normal for a site with little to no backlinks. Start a link building campaign, gain a decent amount of quality links and your site will be indexed perfectly in a matter of days.
"10-15 inbound links I have from ezinearticles and digg" You need to build more back links. 15 back links are not enough. If you want Google to crawl your site more often plus if you need a stable position in search results, then you need to build lots of back links.
keep adding more content - display RSS feeds from yahoo, msn news etc. Your website content needs to be changing constantly for search engines to visit everyday...
