No ads, no validation

    Hi,

I'm trying to work through this...be gentle please. :)

I have added the .php and .txt files to my server in the main directory. I have chmodded them to 777. My site uses server side includes but I have the following in my .htaccess file so the pages are .htm instead of .shtml:
    AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .html .htm

I tried to also add this line to my .htaccess:
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html

When I did that, my server server side includes no longer showed up so I had to take it out. Obviously, the .php isn't working on the site...I don't know how to make it work.

    Any help appreciated.

PS I forgot to mention that I signed up originally in the fall and didn't ever do anything with it. Now, one of my sites is "spoken for" so I'm trying to validate with another site of mine. If I can get this working I'd like to add the original site back in, but I apparently signed up with user ID I can't remember and I've gone down the list of usual id's and email addresses with no luck. The URL of that site is: http://www.best-cellular-phone-plan.com

    Thanks!

    Dear Folks,

I am having validation problems too, and would appreciate whatever help I can get.

I am getting this message in red: "Site failed automatic validation as of 2005-05-28 (make sure URL and site type is correct - if everything is correct, make a request in the forum for assistance)."

I have gone through the setup instructions. I have created the three files and installed them in my main directory. I have verified with my hosting company that the server supports .php . And I have added the code to my site's pages (www.dishliving.com). I have also set permissions on the .txt and the .htaccess files to read and write. Still no validation.

Thanks again for any advice you can give! :)

    Hey gdoud,

I'm the last person to be giving you instructions :) but I just went to look at your site and you've done something wrong with your index page. When I try to pull up www.dishliving.com, I should get your main page but instead I start to down load a .php file. Better check that.

    etc

Yes, that was a fun surprise! I generally use a Mac, and I did not notice the problem until someone told me, and I tried on a Win XP and got the download message. It seemed to have something to do with me setting "write" permissions on the files we are supposed to put in our main directory. I removed the files, got it working again, and have replaced them with "write" permission on the .txt file and .access file only. Seems to work again so far.

Still, I cannot get my site to validate :(

Any further ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    gdoud
