When clicking "validate now", every now and then I get an error stating that ads were not found in one of the documents linked on the site. (ie PDF, PPT, etc) Is there a filter for it to not to validate those extension types ? Cheers, Max
Nope...If its indexed by Google, it has to have an ad. You can exclude them in your robots file if they are causing validation issues.
Is there an upcoming feature of co-op to add something like this, cause its obviously means that users of co-op which have a few documents on their site (that they do want indexed) will be impacted ? Cheers, Max
If its only a few pages you can add your Google API to manually validate on the odd occasion it finds one of those pages. I don't think thats a feature being planned, to be honest.
If the auto validation fails (ie comes across one of these docs), do you know how long it takes for the weight score to be effected (ie one failure within 24 hours only or ?) Cheers, Max
The score will go to 0 right away. The effect of your ads being taken out of rotation can take a few days because they're cached into people's txt files. So they don't disappear the moment you fail. If you want them indexed, you could stick them in a sub folder or if your base url is a folder, move them to another folder.
I think if you take care of it within a few hours of the email you are fine as I've noticed the master account shows the corrected amount right away. Its definately not 24 hours though as at that point it takes the normal few hours for the master account to show your true weight instead of 0. The auto validate is every 3 days. What percentage of your indexed site is made up of .pdf's?
I do have them in a subfolder (/documents/) but robots.txt includes them and on co-op ive specified / so it does flow down. Any more ideas ? Cheers, Max
Close to 50%, might have to increase that ratio then...or copy/paste What email are youreferring to, is there an alert that goes out when auto validation fails ?
Yes. you alerted if your site doesn't pass validation. It comes from "nobody@" so make sure it gets past your spam filters
