This is a bit akward, but for some reason, YPN is not serving ads to my most prominent and content rich pages on certain sites of mine. This has never happened before, and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing anything similar to this as it is completely new behavior to me. Hopefully this is just temporary if it is a glitch in the system. It could also be my connection I suppose since I am currently on a pretty slow wireless network at the moment.
You would not be the first Yahoo publisher who has had this issue over the course of the Beta testing. It seems to be random and for one guy about a week ago it lasted for him for around 4 days before it cleared up. Make sure you call them and let them know.
Check your title and also keywords etc to see if there is an issue. Then I would contact them if you are still having this issue and find out what else might be the problem.
Doesn't YPN have a "show this instead" feature, like Google, so you can display something else instead of white space if no ads display?
That is why I asked. You can with Google, I just wondered if you can with YPN as well. I've never had the need for it, so I have no idea if they do or not.
Yes you can use the ad targeting that is located under the ad setup tab. From there choose the type of ads you wish to display on your site and when there are no relevant ads these are what will be displayed for you. Works well for me.
well, as far as i know, ad targetting is different than default ads. default ads serves up ads ONLY when there is no ads. anyway, correct me if i am wrong.
I wrote a recent article about this on my blog. I spoke with some of their reps and the original intention was for ad targeting to help fill the gaps left by not enough advertisers in some keyword areas. On my sites I may get very relelvant ads that are served by the content of the sites or a mix of the targeted ads or simply the targeted ad group. I have been monitoring this and have seen this consistently working well on my sites. Unfortunately I think that they are having a few other issues though with tracking clicks properly, but that is from the fact that I have been rotating ad systems between google and YPN on one of my sites and seeing a huge difference in clicks between them. The ads are similar, but the clicks received on Google are 60 to 80 per day and with YPN they are 10 to 15 now. Could be lack of interest in the YPN ads, but there is not much difference between what is being advertised.
