Your dropping ranks fast because your doing it honestly. All people these days are buying paid links to get #1, which is why I don't even bother to try to get page one for anything really high demand. Too bad you didn't come up with a better domain name though. Its very hard to remember IMO.
I forwared about 3 domains over the last few months cause I was unhappy with their previous domain names I had. I personally don't like your domain name, not being mean, just think it isn't memorable or catchy at all. If your going to have such a popular domain, might as well get a better name.

I didn't experience much of any drop in traffic from forwarding to new domain. The 3 were previously on .info's. I did monitor the logs periodically since the change and it APPEARS that people are trusting it more (i.e looking deeper in the site and clicking on links more), but its not a huge change. Even if its only a slight benefit over 10 years it can add up, so if you can get a much better name then I think its a good idea.
