Hi guys, I've got a question... My site has been position one for it's main keyword - and many others for years. It has also had sitelinks for a number of years. Getting up to about 6/8 sitelinks. And they appeared for a few keywords. It was good Last month - i submitted a sitemap - as i thought it would help. It didnt. I havent added/changed anything on my site - all i did was submit a sitemap to webmaster tools. I'm still ranking 1 exactly the same for all keywords - but my sitelinks have gone. AND for some reason, the only sitelinks i have now are for seperate language parts of my site. All my pages are directory/page/ The only pages now with sitelinks are directory/page.php I'd really like some advice on how i could get my sitelinks back. Should i remove my sitemap? Maybe remove the .php from the other pages so they do not seem more important somehow? I no longer have sitelink for my main domain, but i do for /spanish/ (all pages under there) and /french/ (all pages under that directory) Thanks for any help
Sitemap submission has nothing to do with this. just a coincidence. You should get back building links and search for relevant niche websites for link partners. Site authority can come and go quite quickly. Just build links slowly and continually. Keep up the good work... Cheers,
But i've had sitelinks for a few years! Like 3 years. The same ones -- and more were getting added all the time. Then.. i submit a sitemap - and they've all gone. Except sitelinks to irrelevant parts of my site. Either there was a google update at EXACTLY the same time as the sitemap was submitted - or the sitemap has a lot more to do with sitelinks then people think. NOTE TO MODS: I posted this in GOOGLE as it is a google related question! I'm not asking for a SEO review of my site -- i needed to know from someone who knows a lot about google if webmaster tools sitemaps has anything to do with sitelinks.
