No. 1 on Yahoo but NOWHERE on Google???

    Hi Guys,

I have a peculiar question: I set up my blog (www.me2everyoneuk.com) a few weeks ago and have basically been adding fresh content nearly everyday. The blog is basically a running commentary on a new program named me2everyone.

Anyway without sounding like I am promoting my blog, I found that for the keyword 'me2everyone' I am ranked NUMBER 1 on Yahoo (even above the main program domain itself). However, on google I am nowhere to be seen for the same keyword????

What do you guys think is the reason?? Love to know what you think.

You are showing up on Page 3 of Google for that keyword here.

Google and Yahoo are two different search engines, and therefore their methods for determining which site should be number 1 would obviously differ too.

I usually see results in Yahoo before i see results in Google. Typically it precedes the good rankings in google. So, I would take it as a sign you are doing something right and continue doing what you are doing - the google rankings will come.

Google and Yahoo has different way to decide which site that will rank higher. I have blog with a lot of traffic from MSN and Google, but only few traffic from Google.

Thanks alot for all your responses. Maybe you are right in the above quote - just keep doing what I am doing and good google rankings will follow! Its just that it was a little surprising; I do now realise that they are different companies with different search algorithms.

Yes, by the way I have found my site in page 3 on google for that keyword

    Cheers guys

I had a blog that was on the first page of Yahoo for about a week and on the 6th page of Google. I thought I might have pissed off the google spiders with something, but now it's finally showing up on the frontpage of google as well. The site in question is in my signature, fedmod, go ahead and check google/yahoo for the results.

Google also tends to focus more on links; if your blog is fairly new then you likely do not have as many as others that existed for sometime.

With Yahoo you can get good rankings based on lots of internal links and lots of external backlinks. With Google it is more about link quality. They also consider the age of links. I agree that it is a good sign that you are #1 on Yahoo and page #3 on Google. In time you should be near the top on Google as well. Just keep working at getting quality backlinks. Also keep adding quality unique content.

google tends to count quality backlinks while yahoo counts every backlink to your site.
It may have something to do with that.
