Hello! I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my web site. I have just put it online and am looking forward to some criticism. Suggestions on SEO would be greatly appreciated! www.nintendoworld.info
I love it, especially the logo. Although, the "add to favourites" button doesn't work in Firefox and it probably won't work in Opera either. You're better off saying "Press CTRL+D to bookmark this site!" instead. Did you know that when you make words bold in your content, it improves their visibility in the content? In this instance, instead of making "add" and "favourites" bold, perhaps try "emulators" and "Nintendo". Your final text at the bottom will also ruin your keyword density given that it's longer than your introductory paragraph. Consider removing it and placing a link to a seperate copyright page. After that, replace it with another quick summary of what your site is about loaded with keywords. Hosting those files on MediaFire (which is currently down..) is a bad idea. Then again, hosting them on a place like RapidShare or MegaUpload is even worse. Consider monetizing your site using AdSense and then putting the files on your own site. To stop hotlinking, you could use .htaccess to prevent other sites linking directly to the files. Overall it's a good start and it gives you the information you want, and nothing less. Good luck
Wow, what an excellent reply Will. I really appreciate your comment, It is evident that you are skilled, for every comment is spot on. Apart from having the current add to favourites button, I will add the CTRL+D suggestion. Perhaps someone knows where I can get a nice add to favourites button that supports more explorers? I will change the words that are on bold. I will also do something about the long copyright info. Nevertheless, at the moment is has quite a heavy density of the keyword nintendo, which I like. Although I am not sure if I should target that very highly competitive keyword instead of another, like free roms, or emulators. About media fire, I am sad to hear that when you tried it was down, every time I have accessed it I found working smoothly. I was quite satisfied with their service due to a number of reasons. I had been trying to use other sites for a week and had found all sorts of problems. With media fire I found the best speeds, availability and it made it easier for me to copy and paste the urls, which are many. Anyways. the best solution would be for me to host the files but I would not like to jeoperdize up time due to server overload. I am not yet financially ready to have a dedicated server. My other sites have had adsense for a little bit over a year and I still dont see good numbers. I am hoping to get a good amount of traffic into this website before I modify the design with ads. If anyone has suggestions on this aspect I would greatly appreciate it. How can I use the .htaccess to prevent hotlinking? Thank you very much Will ! Finally something that I would really really need help on.
The design looks a bit outdated . However, I do like the logo design. For your 3 icons on the bottom, it would look nicer if you rounded off the corners
Thank you 8everything, would you be so kind as to tell me how I can make the design not seem outdated? I am not really sure what that means in this context. I will test the round icons, thank you.
Well I suppose it is a matter of taste. Some people like clean websites, others crowded websites. I prefer to be concise, I deliver what I offer quickly.
Your logo and site are very nice. The two red images on either side of the logo look a little ruff. The add to favorites button doesn't work in firefox.
Thank you CHpeter, I just found out that the fonts I am using are not being decoded by most computers. I wasnt aware of this, I thought that everyone was seing my fonts. Would you recommend a good font that everyone can have access to?
I think it looks great, especially the header it's very detailed and I like how when you put your mouse over the pictures they change to black and white
I like how it is easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. Simple layout but the design needs to look better.
